2021: Still Fallen

Well, despite the resolutions, the poorly placed hope, and the magic reset of the new year, things still seem to be pretty 2020-ish:

Amen & A-women

The calls for re-voting

The “peaceful protest” at the capitol

All the mayhem of the first week of 2021 should be expected, at least by those of us who understand the natural state of the human soul.

“None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands;

no one seeks for God.

All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;

no one does good, not even one.”

“Their throat is an open grave;

they use their tongues to deceive.”

“The venom of asps is under their lips.”

“Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”

“Their feet are swift to shed blood; in their paths are ruin and misery,

and the way of peace they have not known.”

“There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

Romans 3:10-18

Not only do we understand in scripture that the entirety of humanity has “turned aside” and has “become worthless” but we also understand that when we are left to ourselves, our own desires, we will always drift away into sin.

And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

Romans 1:28-32

For some reason, American Christians are shocked every time our nation, full of fallen people, acts… fallen. This is not a political problem. This is not a Racial problem. This is not a bipartisan problem. This is a sin problem, a problem only remedied with either the blood of Christ now or the wrath of God later.

Either His blood will bring dead and fallen hearts back to life, giving them new desires to do His will, or His wrath will silence the foolish babbling of the wicked at the return of Christ.

As Christians, we need to be soaking up as much Bible as we can right now.

We need to be meditating on the Word ALL THE TIME.

We need to be diving into the character of God, trying to understand more and more who He is and what it means to truly live for Him.

We need to be gathering with the saints on sundays, rallying around scripture rather than moralism.

We need to be gathering with the saints throughout the week, bearing one another’s burdens and encouraging one another in the Faith.

We do not need to post our political opinions on Facebook (yes, me included).

We should not be putting our hope in a political party or a system.

We can not compromise what the Bible says in order to accommodate current culture.

Let’s pick up our Bibles and discern how to navigate this ridiculous world, that’s the only way we will find peace.

Amen! (Truly, truly) or (So be it.)

Amen is an exclamation, not a gendered word... FYI.
